You’ve Got Mail

If you happen to be like most crazed travelers, who’ve never sent a postcard in their life, you’ve got to check out HazelMail, a new online service (and seriously cool iPhone/Blackberry app) that allows anyone anywhere to easily create and mail postcards using their own photos.
Postcard sending for me ended when my last pen pal moved onto second grade, so I figure it was best to give the service a shot. The result: I am what you now might call a postcard sending fool! In less than five minutes, I had uploaded a recent photo of the family, picked a background, typed a personal message to my sister, who is studying abroad in Ghana and currently recovering from a terrible infection from a mango, and mailed a little note filled with sister love. Pretty cool, huh?
My postcard to Africa cost around $2 (thank you HazelMail for the comp!), which is way cheaper than a hallmark card, is super creative, and one-of-a-kind, plus no mad scramble at the airport to find a postbox or an hour spent at the Post Office wondering how much postage you’ll actually need – that in itself is worth $20.
HazelMail, we heart you.
