Jenny Newcomer, See Jane Fly's resident "keep you sane" expert and the founder of LobotoMe, shares her tips on how to keep track of all your business expenses while on the road.
The last thing you need to deal with while on the road for business trips is disorganization. Business travel is stressful enough without adding more work on top of it just because you don't have your act together.
When traveling for business, it can be easy to forget little expenses, such as morning coffee or a service tip, so be sure to keep track of everything. By keeping an ongoing log of expenses, you can ensure that you will be reimbursed for all legitimate travel costs. It is also important to keep receipts in one centralized place to minimize the time it takes to file an expense report when back at the office. I prefer traveling with a wallet that has an extra compartment for my receipts or space for a designated envelope to slip the receipts into.
